Math 120 - Fall 2006 - Grade Record
EXPLANATION OF MIDTERM GRADE COMPUTATION
Here is an explanation of how your grade is calculated: Think of the course as a total of 100 points.
| Category | Weight | Your percentage | Your score |
| Participation | 2 | Depends on the number of participation days you missed | = 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, or 2 |
| Homework | 10 | YOUR HOMEWORK PERCENTAGE | =YOUR HOMEWORK SCORE |
| Exam 1 | 26 | YOUR EXAM 1 PERCENTAGE | =YOUR EXAM 1 SCORE |
| Exam 2 | 26 | YOUR EXAM 2 PERCENTAGE | =YOUR EXAM 2 SCORE |
| Final Exam | 36 | YOUR FINAL EXAM PERCENTAGE | =YOUR FINAL EXAM SCORE |
| TOTAL | 100 | | YOUR TOTAL OUT OF 100 |
| YOUR COURSE PERCENTAGE = YOUR TOTAL |
This is the percentage that I look for on the
grade scale to give you your grade.
PARTICIPATION
If you missed one or two participation days, you still received full participation credit. Missing more than this, will lose you points in increments of 0.5.
HOMEWORK
For your final homework score, we eliminate the lowest scores.
| YOUR HOMEWORK PERCENTAGE = (HIGHEST 6 HOMEWORK SCORES) / 90 * 100 PERCENT |
EXAM
The first and second exams are each weighted as 26 points (see your syllabus).
| YOUR EXAM PERCENTAGE = (YOUR EXAM SCORE) / 50 * 100 PERCENT |
FINAL EXAM
The final exam is weighted at 36 points (see your syllabus).
| YOUR FINAL EXAM PERCENTAGE = (YOUR EXAM SCORE) / 80 * 100 PERCENT |
