EXPLANATION OF MIDTERM GRADE COMPUTATION

Here is an explanation of how your grade is calculated: Think of the course as a total of 100 points.

Exam 2	26	YOUR EXAM 2 PERCENTAGE	=YOUR EXAM 2 SCORE
Final Exam	36	YOUR FINAL EXAM PERCENTAGE	=YOUR FINAL EXAM SCORE
TOTAL	100		YOUR TOTAL OUT OF 100

YOUR COURSE PERCENTAGE = YOUR TOTAL

This is the percentage that I look for on the grade scale to give you your grade. I "curved" the grading scale, so that you probably have a much higher grade than you would have had on the original grading scale.

PARTICIPATION If you missed one or two participation days, you still received full participation credit.

HOMEWORK We have graded all of your homework assignments. For your final homework score, we take only the 5 highest scores.

YOUR HOMEWORK PERCENTAGE = (HIGHEST 5 HOMEWORK SCORES) / 75 * 100 PERCENT

EXAM The first and second exams are each weighted as 26 points (see your syllabus).

YOUR EXAM PERCENTAGE = (YOUR EXAM SCORE) / 50 * 100 PERCENT
