Calculus
by Stewart. This is a custom edition available in
the University Bookstore.
A part of the new edition (the 6th edition and the custom edition)
is different from the 5th edition.
If you still want to use the 5th edition of Stewart Calculus
(Early Transcendentals),
please follow the direction given at
How to access the problems in Stewart 6th Edition .
We recommend students to read the textbook before
and after each lecture.

Prerequisite:
2.0 in MATH 124, score of 3 on AB advanced placement test,
or score of 3 on BC advanced placement test.
The Course:
This is the second quarter in the calculus of functions of a
single variable. Emphasizes integral calculus, applications
and problem solving using the tools of calculus.
Grades:
Your grades will be determined by how you do relative to the class as a whole.
Grades will be based on the following:
- Worksheets/Quizzes -- 10 %
- Homework -- 10 %
- Midterm one -- 20 %
- Midterm two -- 20 %
- Final -- 40 %
Homework: Homework will be assigned weekly
and be collected in Quiz Section on Tuesdays (except for week 1 and week
10).
You are responsible for all the problems assigned. We have graders
to check your homework, but the amount of homework that can be graded
is limited. No late homework will be accepted. Click here for

Quizzes:
There are three 20-minute quizzes to be given on Tuesdays in
weeks 2, 5, and 9.

quizzes, midterms, finals and worksheets) at

Exams:
The first Midterm Exam will be given on April 23, (Thursday
week 4). The first Midterm will cover Chapters 5 and 6 and
Section 4.9.
The second Midterm Exam will be given on May 21,
(Thursday week 8). The second Midterm will cover Chapters 7 and 8.
The final exam will take place on Saturday, June 6,
2009 from 1:30 to 4:20. See

The final exam will cover
Chapters 5 to 9. You must bring a Photo ID to all exams.
Rules for taking exams:
- You are allowed to use one page of two-sided handwritten 8.5 by 11
sheet of notes.
- Graphing calculators are not allowed in exams or
quizzes. You may use a simple scientific calculator.
- There are no make-up exams. If you have a compelling and
well-documented reason for missing a test, speak to Math Advising
Office (PDL C-36) about it. See
