Autumn 2006/Winter 2007/Spring 2007, 10:30-11:20, MWF
This is intended as a "hands-on" course, with a log of interation between
the students and the instructor. A central element of the course is solving
problems and discussing their solutions. The course is a continuation of
Advanced Algebraic Geometry I (583H), offered in Spring 2006.
Topics to be covered (time permitting):
- First quarter: cohomology of sheaves (taught by Hacking)
- Second quarter: curves (taught by Kovács)
- Thrid quarter: surfaces (taught by Kovács)
Prerequisites:
- Basic knowledge of algebraic geometry on the level of
Math 507 and a working familiarity with the notion of schemes,
- OR good command of the material covered in Chapters I and II of GTM 52,
- OR instructor's permission.
