Travel funding
Students who would like funding for mathematical travel (attending
a conference, for example) can draw on several resources:
- If the student has access to grant money that provides travel
support, this should be used first.
- The student's advisor might have grant money available for grad
student travel: ask your advisor!
- The
UW Graduate School has some funding
available, if you are presenting a talk or a poster: up to $300 for
domestic airfare, $500 for international. Note the deadlines on
their page – the application may be due up to two months
before the trip, so plan ahead. To apply, contact the Mathematics
GPC with the following information: where you're going, the title of
your presentation, and how much money you're requesting.
- The Department of Mathematics also has some funding
available. To apply, contact the Mathematics GPC with the following
information: where you're going, whether you're giving a presentation,
and how much money you're requesting. Your advisor should also
write a brief letter of support to the GPC.
