Gerald B. Folland
Professor Emeritus, appointed 1973 (Ph.D. Princeton 1971) Research area: Harmonic analysis and differential equations Personal Web page: http://www.math.washington.edu/~folland/Homepage/index.html E-mail: folland[_a_t_]math.washington.edu Phone: 543-1160 Office: PDL C-542 Hobbies: Hiking, music, the culture of India Professional interests My principal areas of interest are harmonic analysis (on both Euclidean space and Lie groups), differential equations, and mathematical physics. I enjoy writing and assembling mathematical material into a coherent package, so a lot of my effort has gone into writing books rather than research papers. Selected bibliography Advanced Calculus, Prentice-Hall, 2002. Real Analysis: Modern Techniques and their Applications (2nd ed.), John Wiley, 1999. The uncertainty principle: a mathematical survey, J. Fourier Anal. Appl. 4 (1997), 207-238 (with A. Sitaram). Introduction to Partial Differential Equations (2nd ed.), Princeton University Press, 1995. A Course in Abstract Harmonic Analysis, CRC Press, 1995. Harmonic Analysis in Phase Space, Princeton University Press, 1989. Estimates for the ∂b complex and analysis on the Heisenberg group, Comm.
