In this talk I would like to discuss the three-sphere inequality for
two-dimensional elliptic systems with two variables. The three-sphere
inequality is quite well-known for second order scalar elliptic
operators. A challenging problem is to derive this type of inequality
for elliptic systems. Here we derive the three-sphere inequality for
two-dimensional elliptic systems with two variables under some generic
conditions. I will also discuss the application of the three-sphere
inequality to inverse problems. This result is a recent joint work
with Nakamura and Lin.
