• Sultan is a Software Design Engineer in Test with the Microsoft Office group.

Sultan's background:

• Sultan received a Bachelor of Science in Applied and Computational Mathematics (ACMS), from the University of Washington, Spring 2005, with an emphasis in discrete math and algorithms.
• Even though he isn't using math directly on the job right now, but plans to look for areas where it can be applied.
• Sultan says he first became interested in mathematics while taking a course in numerical analysis at UW. He was amazed by the various algorithms they studied to solve differential equations, and the iterative approach to solving problems. This was a true turning point for him.

Advice for students:

• Sultan believes choosing a math related major can qualify one for a broad range of jobs, as opposed to a more specialized major. Think more broadly when deciding what area to major in.
