What they do:
- William works in an economic consulting firm. Their main job is to assist clients in estimating economic damages when they are faced with some sort of litigation. They also do some strategy work.
Math on the job:
- Consulting often involves managing large datasets and coming up with reasonable answers from imperfect data. This entails a fair amount of coding and knowledge of statistics.
Student's background:
- Received Bachelor of Science in Economics and Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics in Spring 2012.
Advice for students:
- Find what interests you, then do it well. Pick professors, not classes - a good professor will make anything interesting. In math classes, try and explain what you know to your friends. Even if they have no idea what you're saying, you will discover whether you actually know the material or not.
