What they do:
- Michael is currently a PhD student in the material sciences engineering program at Johns Hopkins University.
- He hopes to some day start his own company.
Math on the job:
- He uses multivariable calculus, some group theory, and a significant amount of physics on a daily basis.
Michael's background:
- Michael received his Bachelor of Science in Material Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics in Winter, 2009 .
- In his engineering program, Michael found the matematics he knew the more tools he had at his disposal to understanding physical phenomena.
Advice for students:
- Go after your passions. If you don't know what your passions are, then keep trying everyting until you stumble on them. It is really important to know how you want to spend your time as a student and as an adult. But the great thing about college is that is a place to discover what makes you tick.
