What he does:
- Robert's job is business forecasting.
Math on the job:
- Robert uses math everyday by constantly maintaining and improving the fo\ recasting models used to project earnings and costs, which are used in financial planning and reporting. He keeps up to date with research in mathematics, statistics and economics, which is important to ensure his company does not fall behind in it's business forecasting capabilities.
Robert's background:
- Robert has a Bachelor of Science in ACMS from the University of Washington, Winter, 2008.
- When Robert first arrived at college, he was undecided about what to major in. He took a variety of classes before settling on an ACMS degree. He simply went with what interested him most, and he is very glad he chose ACMS.
Advice for students:
- Play to your strengths and don't choose a major simply because you think it can get you a good job. You should be passionate about the subject as well. Get involved in research! Undergraduate research taught him many of the technical skills needed in his line of work, and also make him very competitive on the job market.
