Advanced Mathematics Core, Comprehensive Option

At least eight courses must be taken from the list below, including at least two in each of the first three areas. If only six courses are chosen from the first three areas, then the two courses chosen from the fourth area must form a two-quarter sequence. (24 credits)

    Area

    Course
    Algebra 402/3/4
    Analysis 424/5/6
    Geometry 441/2/3
    Other Analysis 307/9, 427/8/9, 435/6, 438/9

    Electives (12 credits):

Four additional mathematics courses, including a two-quarter sequence at the 300 or 400 level, with teacher-preparation courses disallowed. Two of the four can be chosen from other departments such as Applied Math, Statistics, and Computer Science. In some cases, courses from other departments can be used if approved by the Student Services Office. Courses from additional mathematics core sequences that aren't being used to fulfill the core requirements can be used to complete the elective requirement.
