Honors and Distinction in MathematicsUndergraduates majoring in mathematics can earn a Bachelor of Science degree with College Honors in Mathematics if they participate in the University Honors Program, or with Distinction in Mathematics if they do not. In either case, the department requirements are as follows:
Please visit the Student Services Office in C-36 Padelford to pick up the complete instructions and proposal form. This a two-quarter process, so please plan ahead. Writing a Senior ThesisIf you are not interested in the College Honors or Distinction in Mathematics, you may still write a Senior Thesis. This requires finding a faculty member whose field of interest is closely related to your own. The idea is to work under the guidance of a faculty member on a research project. More information about this is availabe in the Student Services Office, C-36 Padelford.
