Common Finals for Math 124, 125, 126, and 144, 145

When and Where:
All finals for Math 124, 125, 126, 144 will be on Saturday, March 13 , 2004 from 1:30 pm until 4:20 pm. The room where your class takes the final exam is listed at the bottom of this sheet.

Alternatives:
Petition forms for alternatives to the common final are available in the Mathematics Advising Office, C-36 Padelford and should be filed by Friday February 20. Petitions are usually granted only for religious reasons. Petitions are sometimes granted for reasons of health or extraordinary circumstances of grave personal import. In such cases the instructor should be contacted in advance and appropriate written documentation provided. Approval of petitions is not automatic. Plans for sporting events, travel or work on exam day, etc. do not constitute extraordinary circumstances.

What:
These exams are written jointly by the instructors and graded jointly by the instructors and TAs. Check with your instructor for further information. For Math 144 and 145, please check with your instructor for any special exam information.

Preparing for the Final:
Math 124: This is a closed book exam. A scientific calculator will be required. Graphing calculators are NOT allowed. You may bring one handwritten 8.5 x 11 sheet of notes; writing is allowed on both sides.

Math 125: This is a closed book exam. A scientific calculator is allowed, but no graphing calculators. You may bring one 8.5 x 11 handwritten sheet of notes; writing is allowed on both sides.

Math 126: Books and calculators will not be allowed. You will be allowed one 8.5 x 11 sheet of handwritten notes; writing is allowed on both sides. Additional specific rules may be announced in class.

Rules for Math 126: For the Math 126 final exam, you may bring a transparent ruler with a metric scale. Vectors, lines, etc., may be drawn with the ruler.

I.D.: You should bring your student I.D. to the exam. You may also be asked for personal identification that has your photo on it. (These can be obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles whether or not you have a driver's license.)

Picking Up the Final:
Your instructor or TA will inform you of the procedure for picking up your final exam after it is graded. Caution: If you are offered the option of having your exam placed outside an office door, be aware that this option carries the risk of having your exam stolen. If you choose this option, then pick up your exam within a few days.
