The Mountain-Whisper-Light Statistical Consulting
Statisticians work with people from many fields to bring scientific investigations and research to a successful close. Despite the dreadful reputation of our field ("dry as dust", "lies, damned lies, and statistics"), we have terrific interactions with a lot of people and we contribute mightily to science in the service of humanity. I will give some examples of work which helped end discrimination, protect the environment, and other work underway which we hope will defer death. I will also describe some ethical issues that have arisen and talk about statistical consulting as a way of life with considerable freedom and variety.
