Mathematical Relativity & Black Holes: All Your Photon Are Belong To Us

Catherine Williams

We will first describe some basic features of Einstein's theories of special and general relativity, and then turn to the notion of black holes: we'll outline how they are described in formal mathematics and also look at how the intuition behind them can be captured by other mathematical notions such as trapped surfaces and dynamical horizons.
