Modeling Pulsed Lasers

Nathan Kutz

UW Applied Math Professor

In the past 40 decades since its invention, the laser has become an indispensable commercial technology with applications in communication systems, scanners, medical imaging, spectroscopy and wide range of other applications. Research into the dynamics and stability of laser systems continues to evolve with special emphasis on ultra-fast lasers. I will discuss some of the modeling issues and present many of the key ideas in the laser system.
