Undergraduate Mathematical Sciences Seminar
Attendance
Students enrolled in the seminar for credit are required to attend the seminars. We will collect attendance at each seminar. You can miss up to ONE of the seminars and still receive credit, but you will need to present a valid medical excuse to miss more than one.
Seminar Response Paper
One of the requirements for getting credit for Math 498 is to write a seminar response paper that is due at the end of the quarter. The paper should be 1-2 pages in length, typed, and double-spaced. The paper should be turned in at the last meeting of the quarter. The content should address:
- One particular presentation seen this quarter *
- What was the topic of the presentation?
- Why did you like/dislike the presentation?
- How did the presentation make you think more about the topic presented? (application, mathematics used, etc.)
The main thing is to show that you spent some time thinking about one of the presentations. Two papers from Spring 2005 can be downloaded below. These examples are not meant to represent the perfect seminar response paper, but they should give you an idea of where to start.

* Some of the speakers have allowed us to post materials from their presentations on the website. You can find these materials on the same pages as the abstracts for the talks, by clicking on the title of the talk on the schedule.
