Graduate Alumnus Awarded SAIG/CST Prize

Rafal Goebel In July 2009, Rafal Goebel received the SIAG/CST Prize at the annual meeting of the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics for his novel and fundamental results in the study of hybrid dynamical systems. This prize is awarded every two years to a junior researcher for outstanding contributions to mathematical control or systems theory. Dr. Goebel completed his PhD in our department in 2000, advised by Professor Terry Rockafellar. Goebel returned to teach as a lecturer in 2005-07; he is now an Assistant Professor at Loyola University Chicago.
