Math 112 - Winter 2006 - Grade Record
EXPLANATION OF MIDTERM GRADE COMPUTATION
Here is an explanation of how your grade is calculated: Think of the course as a total of 100 points. So far we have completed approximately 68 of these points.
| Category | Weight | Your percentage | Your score |
| Participation | 2 | Depends on the number of participation days you missed | =0,.7, 1.3, or 2 |
| Homework | 10 | YOUR HOMEWORK PERCENTAGE | =YOUR HOMEWORK SCORE |
| Activity | 10 | YOUR ACTIVITY PERCENTAGE | =YOUR ACTIVITY SCORE |
| Exam 1 | 23 | YOUR EXAM 1 PERCENTAGE | =YOUR EXAM 1 SCORE |
| Exam 2 | 23 | YOUR EXAM 2 PERCENTAGE | =YOUR EXAM 2 SCORE |
| Final Exam | 32 | YOUR FINAL EXAM PERCENTAGE | =YOUR FINAL EXAM SCORE |
| TOTAL | 100 | | YOUR TOTAL OUT OF 100 |
| YOUR COURSE PERCENTAGE = YOUR TOTAL |
This is the percentage that I look for on the
grade scale to give you your grade.
PARTICIPATION
If you missed one or two participation days, you still received full participation credit.
HOMEWORK
We have graded all of your homework assignments. I threw out the lowest of the seven and divided by 6*15 = 90 to get your homework percent.
| YOUR HOMEWORK PERCENTAGE = (HIGHEST 6 HOMEWORKS) / 90 * 100 PERCENT |
ACTIVITIES
We have graded all of your activities. I threw out the lowest of the eight and divided by 7*20 = 140 to get your activity percent.
| YOUR ACTIVITY PERCENTAGE = (HIGHEST 7 ACTIVITIES) / 140 * 100 PERCENT |
EXAM
The first and second exams are each weighted as 23 points (see your syllabus).
| YOUR EXAM PERCENTAGE = (YOUR EXAM SCORE) / 50 * 100 PERCENT |
