- 34 out of 50 is 68% which is a 1.4 grade point.
The expected median grade for this course is between 2.7 and 2.9. So we were only slight below this mark (that means there may be a very slight "curve" at the end of the term, but you should not depend on this).
- Grades have been posted. Please read the announcements at the top of the grade page carefully.
- Announced 11/19/2007: I have posted a problem coorespondence sheet for exam 2 and here are the solutions for Exam 2. Please use these to review where your studying went right and where your studying went wrong.
- Announced 11/19/2007: THE HOMEWORK LIST HAS BEEN CHANGED! Please check out the updated homework lists.
- Announced 11/9/2007: Exam 2 will be on Nov. 15 in quiz section. It will cover Chapters 9-16 (Chapter 17 Sinusoidal Modeling will not appear on Exam 2). The rules for Exam 2 are the same as for Exam 1. As always, you should know the material and you should be fast enough to finish in the allotted time. Make sure to practice on old exam and to use your time wisely.
- Announced 10/31/2007: For those of you that are having trouble with various parts of your homework, you may be interested in Polya's problem solving method. George Polya was a renowned mathematician. In 1945, he wrote a book about how to approach mathematical problems. Key points of the methods he suggests can be found here.
- Announced 10/26/2007: Your grades have been posted. They are listed by the last four digits of your student ID number. Please read the announcements at the top of the grade page carefully.

The expected median grade for this course is between 2.7 and 2.9. So we hit the mark almost exactly (that means there is no need for a "curve" on exam 1).
- Grades will be posted by Friday.
- Announced 10/22/2007: The solutions to Exam 1 can be found at the right of this page. Please read through the solutions carefully so that you can understand and correct your mistakes (remember that the final exam is comprehensive, so you will see some of these concepts again). I will post updated grades by the end of the week.

A student expecting to get a good grade should work through several (5+) of these old exams before each midterm and before the final. You should treat these as practice tests. Take them yourself without looking up the answers first, and then see how well you did and see what you need to work on.
