Second Midterm, Friday, November 18, 2011

The midterm will cover all the material we have covered after the first midterm, that is, all the topics in the following sections on which we have done homework: §§ 14.5, 14.6, 16.1, 16.2, 16.3, 16.6, and 16.7. There will probably be four or five problems.

Please read the "Information for all tests" on the quizzes and tests info page.

Study Recommendations.
Be sure you can do all the homework problems and all the quiz problems. You might want to review the sample quiz questions, too.
Some sample midterm questions - a fourth question was added on 11/15.
Corrected Solutions for the sample midterm questions. (There was a typo in the 3(a) answer, a y3 now changed to y2.)
There's a "MT 2 Review" assignment (will not be scored or counted) on WebAssign. And two more, if you need more: p. 1107, #5 & 13 (answers in back of book).

Office hours before the midterm. Besides the usual office hours, I'll have extra office hours
Thursday, 11/17: 1-2 PM and by appointment* in my office PDL C338; and
4:30-5:50 in CMU B006 (usual late afternoon office hour location).
*You can try just dropping by, but to confirm an appointment, please email me no later than Wednesday at 9 PM.

After the midterm: I will be out of town the week of Thanksgiving. The instructor for Math 324E, Luke Wolcott, will sub for me in lecture, also for office hours: Tu 11:30-1:30 in his office in ART 336, 4:30-5:30 in CMU B006 (usual late afternoon room). The graded midterms will be returned on Monday, Nov. 28. Next homework after the midterm will be due Nov. 30.

Makeup for Midterm 2. Note one change from makeup for midterm 1: you can't do a makeup for a problem on which you missed only one or two points.
