There's an annual national competition called the Putnam Exam which requires problem solving skills more than advanced mathematics, and students from engineering and science often do well. • [9/27] The Art of of Problem Solving is a course that teaches all kinds of problem solving techniques for all kinds of pure and applied math problems. This course can be taken to prepare for the Putnam, or just for fun.

  All Math websites were down most of Sunday and for some time this afternoon. Warning: Math department servers occasionally go down for a few hours. Don't wait for the last minute to look up information you need.
