1In 4-18: You may choose a convenient f. (The reference to 4-17 suggests you might have to work with a given f, but this isn't necessary.)
In 4-23: You may assume X is not empty. (The results are true for the empty set, but let's eliminate any need to give extra arguments for this case.)
2In 5-1 & 5-3: To avoid trivial cases, assume cells and manifolds have nonzero dimension.
3For 6-2 & 6-3, give proofs similar to that for Lemma 6.16: as a sequence of presentations related by elementary transformations, with a sequence of sketches illustrating the presentations.
4In 10-2 & 10-9: Give an explicit representative of each generator, by giving a parametrization or by clearly describing the image of the loop.

In Chapter 1, you may skip any part of pp. 9-17 that you find uninteresting.
