Math 308A

Introduction

Math 308 is an introductory linear algebra course; it is assumed that students have a higher level of mathematical maturity and/or ability. Math 308 stresses on some difficult abstract ideas in concrete form (e.g., linear dependence, subspace) and there will be substantial time spent on examples of applications of linear algebra. Some of the topics that will be covered during this quarter are; systems of linear equations, vector spaces, matrices, subspaces, orthogonality, least squares, eigenvalues, eigenvectors, applications.
