- Textbooks
- The textbooks are Calculus, by Stewart, Vol.2, 6th edition, and the Taylor Notes (TN).
- Homework
- Homework is on Webassign, and is due on Tuesday at 11:59 pm (with the exception of the first week). You can also find a list of the assignments on the calendar. Doing the homework - making your hands dirty with computations - is as important as studying.
The homework is not mandatory, and gives you a bonus 5% of your final grade.
For help on Webassign, you can contact either me or the TA. You can also check out this website.
- Quizzes
- During the quarter there will be short quizzes every Thursday, with the exception of first, fifth and ninth week. Each is worth 5% of your final grade.
- Exams
- There will be a midterm and a final exam. Both exams will only be on materials we have seen in the lectures. This means that you do not have to worry about learning formulas in the textbook unless I mention them in class. On the other hand, in the lectures I may mention a result not in the textbook, and you will be expected to know that result.
If you have a compelling, unavoidable, and well-documented reason for missing an exam (or part of it), talk with me (the instructor) as soon as possible.
For both exams, you can bring a scientific calculator, but NOT a graphic one. One handwritten sheet of notes is also allowed (one-sided). And remember to bring your student ID.
The midterm will be on Tuesday, July 19th, in the quiz section (12:00-1:00, MUE 155), and will cover up to section 13.4 (more or less).
The final will be in two parts: the first part on Thursday, August 18th, in the quiz section (12:00-1:00, MUE 155); the second part will be on Friday, August 19th, instead of the lecture (12:00-1:00, AND 008).
- Grades
- The final grade will be based on homework, quizzes and exams, in the following proportion:
Homework 5% (bonus) Quizzes 5% (each) Midterm 30% Final 40%
