Math 307E: Differential Equations
FAQ
- Will you accept an overload?
No.
- What materials can I use on quizzes and exams?
You are allowed to use 1 sheet (front and back) of HAND WRITTEN notes. You may also use a scientific calculator, but not a graphing calculator.
- I'm having trouble studying for the exam. Do you have any suggestions?
Generally speaking, I would carefully review the examples in the book, do problems from the relevant sections in the book, and also find more problems/lectures online. There are many high quality lectures online if you look, for example the Khan Academy.
- Your solutions to the practice Quizzes/Exams aren't well written.
They aren't meant to be. They're meant to give a very brief sketch of the solution and provide an answer to check yourself against. If you need the solution to be well written then you can't do the problem more-or-less on your own, and in that case you're in need of more help than well written solutions to practice questions. A related point is YOUR SOLUTIONS ON EXAMS MUST BE AT LEAST AS NEAT AND EASY TO FOLLOW AS SOLUTIONS TO THE PRACTICE EXAMS!
- Any advice for taking the exam?
If your answer does not follow a logical flow I cannot follow it. If I cannot follow it then I can't give partial credit. If the correct answer magically appears with no reasoning then I cannot give any credit and it will look like the answer was copied from someone else to boot.
