MATH 307: Text Changes

Briefly, the changes for the sections in the syllabus are
(i) Optional sections 3.2-3.3 have been combined into one section, section 3.2,
(ii) sections 3.4 through 3.9 have been renumbered 3.3 through 3.8, respectively, and
(iii) a few problems have been added, renumbered, or slightly changed.

Here is a detailed list of the changes between editions produced by Professor Hart Smith.

Sections 2.1 - 2.6: no changes.
Section 2.7: written differently, but problems the same.
Section 2.8: no changes.
Section 2.9: problems changed significantly, but we don't do this section.

Section 3.1: presentation changed a bit, but problems the same.

New section 3.2 combines old sections 3.2-3.3.
New problems 1-20 = old 3.2 problems 1-20.
New problem 21 is added.
New problems 22-28 = old 3.2 problems 21-27.
New problems 29-40 = old 3.3 problems 15-26.
New problems 41-51 = old 3.2 problems 28-38.

New section 3.3 = old section 3.4. Presentation has some changes.
New problems 1-33 = old problems 1-33.
New problems 34-38 = old problems 38-42.
New problems 39-42 have been added.
New problem 43 = old problem 34.
New problems 44-46 = old problems 35-37.

New section 3.4 = old section 3.5. Presentation is the same.
New problems = old problems, except new 43-46 have been added.

New sections 3.5-3.7 = old sections 3.6-3.8. Presentation and problems otherwise the same.

New section 3.8 = old section 3.9. Presentation has been expanded.
Problems are the same, except problem 13 is rewritten a bit.

Sections 6.1-6.2: Presentation expanded a bit, but problems are the same.

Section 6.3: Presentation expanded.
Problems 1-6 are the same.
New problems 7-12 have been added.
New problems 13-40 = old problems 7-34.

Section 6.4: Presentation and problems are the same. Most recently updated on September 28, 2009
