ABSTRACT
|
|
We will discuss the commutative algebra and combinatorics of a
class of semigroup algebras of weighted trees. These algebras arise
in many exciting contexts, in algebraic geometry they appear as toric
deformations of rings attached to important moduli spaces, in mathematical
physics their multigraded Hilbert functions are deeply related to the
Verlinde formula, and in mathematical biology they are important objects
in phylogenetic statistics.
