ABSTRACT

In recent years there have been several advances in understanding the combinatorics of triangulations of manifolds without boundary. We will review several of these results and see what, if any, analogous properties hold for manifolds with boundary. Along the way we will discover that in higher dimensions, even for the simplest space, d-dimensional balls, it is difficult to come up with a reasonable conjecture - never mind a theorem!
