Here are the course grades, with final exam scores.
Enjoy the summer!
Final exam stats (out of 70 possible): min=4, 1st quartile=41, median=50, 3rd quartile=59, max = 70 (2 students).
The grade record will be updated when grades are available.
Grading of the final exams is underway. I will have office hours Friday from 2-4 PM if you would like to come by and see your exam. I hope to have course grades determined by then as well, but I might not.
Here is a topics list for use in your review for the final. This covers a lot of topics, but the key resource for review is the homework assignments: if there was a homework problem assigned on it, then that topics/idea/method could appear on the final.
Also, here are some review problems, answers included.
The Grade Record is available. Your information is listed by the last four digits of your student id number. Be sure to check it to make sure your scores have been recorded correctly. If you find any errors, contact your TA.
The grade record also contains a current estimated course grade. This includes the dropping of your lowest homework score (though all are shown so you can check that they've been recorded correctly), and is curved. This is approximately what your grade would be if I had to determine it today.
Answers to the second midterm are available. Do check that your work, and make sure you know how to do everything on the exam, since the final exam is cumulative.
Here are some preliminary statistics on the second midterm: min=2, 1st quartile=21, median=25.75, 3rd quartile=31, max=40.
Solutions should be posted Tuesday, and a grade record will follow later this week.
Argg! The Chapter 14 supplementary problem listed in the homework schedule is actually a Chapter 15 or 16 problem. There is no Chapter 14 supplementary problem this week.
Here is an additional example of how to graph a rational function.
Important: The homework due this Friday now does not include any Chapter 12 problems. Those will all be due next Friday.
Answers for the first midterm exam can be found here.
Here are some preliminary stats on the first midterm exam.
| n | 130 |
| min | 3 |
| 1st quartile | 18 |
| median | 26 |
| 3rd quartile | 31 |
| max | 39 |
Here is a very rough translation scale. This is only approximate and is here only to give you an idea what your grade in the course would be based solely on this exam. I don't use these numbers for anything: they are only for illustrative purposes.
| exam score | approx equiv grade |
| 18 | 0.7 |
| 20 | 1.2 |
| 22 | 1.6 |
| 24 | 2.1 |
| 26 | 2.6 |
| 30 | 3.0 |
| 34 | 3.5 |
| 38 | 4.0 |
