This applet allows you to experiment with the shape of a Norman window, with the goal of better understanding the relationship between the dimensions of the window and the area of the window, when the perimeter is fixed.

To use it, first set the perimeter of the window with the upper slider.

Next, experiment with different values of the radius. How does changing the radius effect the area of the window? Can you find the approximate value of the radius that give you the maximum possible area?
