About Me
I am a second year graduate student in the Department of Pure Mathematics at the University of Washington.
My preliminary advisor is Sara Billey. I am currently working with Abraham Flaxman from the theory group at Microsoft Research and Christopher Hoffman at the University of Washington.
My graduate work is being generously supported by the National Physical Science Consortium.
Research
I am interested in the mathematical aspects of computer science. My specific research interests are in discrete structures and probabilistic methods, and their application to topics such as combinatorial optimization, dynamic network analysis, and randomized algorithms.
For more infomration on my past and present research projects see my CV.
Teaching
I am currently not teaching at the University of Washington, though I do private tutoring.
I enjoy working with all age groups, and have many years experience tutoring all levels of mathematics and computer science, and the natural sciences through the high school level.
Course Notes
Here are my notes for Math 582G: Convex Optimization - Fundamentals, Applications, and Algorithms.
I will try to keep these updated, though I make no claims as to the completeness, correcness or neatness of the material.
IMPORTANT: This file is very large. I would suggest saving it instead of opening it in your browser window (Right click the link, and select "Save Target As").
Fun Stuff
Email Mary Sheetz to join the new mailing list (gradfun@math) where you can hear about and organize fun activities with fellow math students.
Seattle is a great city! Take a look at Jack Lee's list of fun things to do in the area.
