Exams
There will be a midterm exam and a final exam. The midterm exam will be on July 23 in quiz section. I will decide the topics covered on the midterm closer to the date. The final exam will be in lecture on the final day of classes, August 21; it will be cumulative.

You are allowed one 8.5 by 11 sheet of handwritten notes to the exams. Graphing calculators are not allowed for the exams or quizzes. A scientific calculator may be useful. In case of observance of religious holidays or participation in university sponsored activities, arrangements must be made at least one week in advance. You will be required to provide documentation for your absence. Make-up exams or quizzes will not be given. If you miss the midterm due to unavoidable and well-documented circumstances, your final exam will be weighted more heavily.

Calculator policy
You will need a scientific calculator for Math 126. Graphing calculators are not allowed on quizzes or exams. The scientific calculator must have trigonometric functions, like Sin and Cos, as well as logarithms and exponentials (ln and exp). A graphing calculator is any device with a multiline display that has the ability to graph mathematical functions. Examples are the TI-86 or the HP-49G. See me if you are not certain if your calculator is acceptable.

Office hours
Office hours are a couple of set hours a week outside of lectures when I will be free to answer questions. My office hours will be Tuesday and Thursday, 4:30-5:30 in my office, Padelford C-541. You can also make an appointment to meet at some other time. In addition, email is a good way to communicate with me.

Quiz sections
On Tuesdays and Thursdays you will meet with a teaching assistant in quiz section. Tuesday quiz sections are devoted to answering homework questions. On Thursdays, there will be a mix of worksheets, test prep activities and quizzes. You can find the worksheets at the Math 126 materials website. The teaching assistant will provide the quizzes and test prep activity.

Homework
Homework will be due in lecture on Wednesdays (except for the first week, of course), and will be returned the following week. See assignments for the problems due. Each week, two of the problems will be chosen at random to grade, worth 3 points each, plus a score out of 4 points reflecting the percentage of homework completed. Show all work; no credit will be given to unjustified answers. No late homework will be accepted. The lowest homework grade will be dropped.

Quizzes
There will be three quizzes. Check the schedule for dates. They will be 1-2 problems long, 30 min in length. They will be graded out of 4 points. In the Wednesday lecture before a quiz, I will announce the material that will be covered on the quiz. You may use a scientific (not graphing) calculator on the quizzes, but no notes.

Grades
You course grade will be determined by how you do relative to the class as a whole. Grades will be made up of the following:
Worksheets/Test prep 5%
Quizzes 10%
Homework 15%
Midterm 30%
Final 40%
