Abstract: Merkurjev's theorem gives a relatively concrete description
of self-opposite central division algebras over fields of
characteristic different from 2. I will explain this theorem and
discuss a way of making it dramatically simpler over certain function
fields using abstract algebraic geometry. I will not assume any
background, and I will explain everything with examples!
