Math Study Center
Extra help is available in the Math Study Center (MSC), located in CMU B-014. The hours are M,W 9:30 AM - 6:30 PM, and Tu, Th, F 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM. They have large tables so you can work in groups, and the staff can help you with homework questions. I will be holding my office hours here as well.

• 8/18: Beginning Monday 8/21 you will be able to pick up your exams and your old homework assignments in Padelford C-36. This is one floor below the main level (i.e. one floor below my office). Be sure to bring your student ID with you. Have a great break!

• 8/9: For your quiz tomorrow you will be allowed one 1-sided sheet of notes or, equivalently, one 2-sided half sheet of notes. Also, know your related rates.
• 8/8: For your quiz on Thursday, make sure you know how to use the first & second derivative tests to determine the shape of the graph of a function. Know your definitions!
• 8/7: Problems 60 & 62 from Section 4.3 will be due next week instead of this week (that is, due on 8/15 instead of 8/8). The homework page has been changed accordingly.
• 8/2: The quiz will cover sections 3.5 and 3.10.
• 7/28: Julie's office hours have permanently changed. They are now Monday and Friday from 9:40-10:40 in the Math Study Center
• I will be holding extra office hours on Monday 7/17 in the MSC from 2 to 3 pm.
• The exam will cover through section 3.4. Note that I skipped 3.3. If you click on the lectures link, there is a list of sections we've covered thus far. This will tell you the material you'll be responsible for (in addition to the trigonometry review/appendix D). Regarding the proof done today (7/14) of the derivative of the function sin(x)--I do not expect you to be able to repeat this! It's a very involved argument. But on the exam I may ask you to prove other (smaller) things using definitions or properties of the derivative or limits.
• The exam will cover material through this Friday's (7/14) lecture. On Monday I will be reviewing material in class as well. Your homework will still be due on Tuesday at the beginning of class.
• There will be no quiz on Thursday, 7/13. Please come prepared with homework questions and review questions for your upcoming exam on Tuesday, 7/18.
• Make sure you review sections 2.2, 2.3, and 2.5 for the quiz on Thursday (7/6).
• I will not be here on Monday, 7/3. Sweta Suryanarayan will be filling in for me. You'll be covering section 2.6. If you will be out of town for the July 4th holiday, please be sure to read this section on your own.
• There is no school on Tuesday, 7/4, so Homework 2 will be due on Thursday, 7/6 at the beginning of class. Homework 3 will still be due on Tuesday, 7/11.
• I will be out of town on Friday, June 30. I will lecture on Thursday, June 29th, and on Friday, June 30th, you will have a short quiz and time for homework questions.
• The first quiz is Thursday 6/22. It will be on the material we covered Monday--sections 1.2, 1.3, and the handouts.
• My office hours on Monday, 6/19 will be in my office, NOT in the MSC.
