  • Build straw tetrahedra in groups.
  • Discuss terminology and possible math questions..
  • Build level 2 tetrahedra.
  • Discuss edge length, surface area and volume.
  • Determine hole shape (octahedron) and volume. [One table measured granola!]
  • Some built tetrahedron with side 3.
  • Shearing explanation of 1/4 octahedron volume.
  • Visualization of octahedron two ways and tetrahedron two ways.
  • Connection with dilation.
