Workshop Goals

• Share ideas that have worked, particularly in the areas of graduate and undergraduate recruiting, broadening of education, and making transitions between the various stages of education (undergraduate to graduate, course work to research, thesis to independent research program, and graduate student to postdoc).

• Reflect on our collective experiences to make concrete suggestions to the NSF about possible improvements and future directions for such programs.

• Provide the NSF with real-life examples of how VIGRE has positively affected students, faculty, and programs (which the DMS terms "nuggets", and which they use to build their case for funding).
