Week 9 is the week of Midterm #2. After that, we continue on in Chapter 4. Your instructor may or may not get much into 4.5.

• The first and second derivative of a function can be used to tell us a lot about the original function. Section 4.3 introduces useful tools involving the derivative.
• Certain special limits can be calculated using the derivative and "L'Hôpital's Rule"; this is the content of 4.4.
• Curve sketching is the theme of Section 4.5.
