Student Guide:Week 4 will cover the most important definition in the course, the definition of "the derivative". This occurs in section 2.8 and will tie together our previous work with limits, rates of change and tangent lines. In section 2.9, we see how the process of taking the derivative of a function f(x) leads us to a new function denoted f'(x). Graphical aspects of the derivative are further emphasized. We also start discussing various differentiation rules.
