• The first and second derivative of a function can be used to tell us a lot about the original function. The first part of Chapter 4 introduces terminology and these derivative tools. This is then applied to sketch curves and, next week, to solve various application problems in 4.7.
• Certain special limits can be calculated using the derivative and "L'Hopitals Rule"; this is the content of 4.4.
