Midterm Stats: Top Quartile 42/50 ,
Median 39/50, Low Quartile 30/50
To estimate your grade so far:
- Let H=Your average homework percentage so far (ex: (75%+86%+82%)/3=81%)
- Let M=Your midterm percentage (ex: 35/50=70%)
- Compute your estimated percentage so far: P=H*0.4+M*0.6
(ex: P=81*0.4+70*0.6=74.4%)
(to simulate, roughly, the homework to exam ratio at the end of quarter)
- If the quarter were over today, a rough correspondence of grade point to
percentage P would be:
|
4.0 |
≥92% |
|
3.5 |
85% |
|
3.0 |
77% |
|
2.5 |
70% |
|
2.0 |
65% |
|
1.5 |
60% |
|
1.0 |
55% |
|
0.7 |
≥50% |
The actual conversion at the end of the quarter may be different, depending
on the class performance from now on.
PLEASE NOTE:
- If you consistently got <65% so far, you are at high risk for a grade
below 2.0 (NS if you're registered for S/NS grading)
- If your percentage P is below 50%, you are at high risk for a grade of
0.0 in this class.
If you wish to clarify any of this, you are welcome to see me at
office hours soon, or make an appointment.
(I do not discuss grades via email, per university policy.)
The drop deadline (using your annual drop) is May 18.
