LaTeX Tutorial

You may wish to use the LaTeX formatting language to typeset some of your homework. Below are some resources to aid in your use of the language.

You may wish to use the PCTeX software, which is available in the UW labs. Here is a link to the site license for UW and PCTeX. Here is another good version of LaTeX for Windows.

Various LaTeX tutorials exist on the web, and you may wish to find your own. Here are a few:

Here are a few books that can aid in LaTex programming:
  • A Guide to LaTeX, by Kopka and Daly
  • The LaTeX Companion, by Goossens, Mittelbach and Samarin

Microsoft Equation Editor

Finally, the 2007 edition of Microsoft Word has a really good equation editor. Prior editions typeset equations poorly. I don't have a good link to a tutorial, so please let me know if you find one. For now, here are two places to start.
