Grades:  Your grade will be determined from your scores on Worksheets (5%), Homework (10%), both Midterms (25% each) and the Final exam (35%).

Worksheets: On Thursdays, you will work in small groups on worksheets in your quiz section. The worksheets are an integral part of the course. Some of them lay the groundwork for the lectures, some of them explore topics in greater detail than in lecture, and some of them give you practice on basic techniques. You will get full credit for each worksheet, regardless of whether you get the right answers, if you show up and make a good effort. But you are expected to do them in your section, you will not get credit if you do them at home, turn them in and leave.

Quizzes: There will be about five quizzes during the term, given on Tuesdays. They are meant to give you quick feedback on your understanding of the material, and to get you used to the type of problems you should expect on your exams. The quizzes will NOT be graded and will NOT count towards your course grade.

Homework: Homework is due at the beginning of the Thursday TA section and is listed on this page. Due to limited resources, only a small number of  homework problems will be graded each week. Late homework will not be accepted. The lowest  score on homework will not be counted. I highly recommend to form study groups of 2-4 students.

Exams:  You may use one sheet (two-sided) of handwritten notes, and a scientific calculator (but no graphing calculator). There will be no makeup-exams. The midterms are on Tuesday, October 21 and on Tuesday, November 18, in the sections. The Final exam on Saturday, December 6, 1:30-4:20 will be comprehensive. The location is TBA.
