This is the main course webpage for Math 308A, Matrix Algebra. We meet MWF at 9:40 am, in More Hall 230. Office hours in non-exam weeks will be Thursday, 1:30-2:30, and Friday, 11:00-12:00, in Padelford C-8-K. If you can't make these times you can see me in class or email me for an appointment (go to my home page for my email address).
The last exam will be on Friday, August 17 in the usual time and place. The format will be similar to the second exam; in particular, open book and open note. The exam covers chapter 4. I'll have extra office hours Thursday, 11:30-2:30, for review. Here are sample exams A and B. I also have solutions to sample final B. You can preview your estimated grade (sorted by last 4 digits of student number) here. These grades are lower than the grade you will receive if your final is of the same average grade as your two other exams. So don't panic.
The mean score on the exam was about 61.6 out of 90. The standard deviation was about 9.3 points. You can get a rough idea of your exam score on the 4-point scale by using the following formula, where F is your 4-point score and r is your raw score:
This is indeed only an approximation, because of the bad test day policy. Your actual score depends on your later scores. Solutions are available here. You will need to login with your UW NetID.
