[8/17/2012] This is the distribution of the course grades. The mean and median are 2.7 and 2.8, respectively.
[8/14/2012] I will give office hours on Wednesday, August 15, from 10:-11:45 and 2:15-6 in my office. We might move to the lounge, C-120 Padelford Hall if my office gets too crowded. On Thursday, August 16, I will give office hours at least from 1:15-3.
[8/14/2012] I will give office hours on Wednesday, August 15, from 10-11:45 and 1:15-5 in the lounge, C-120 Padelford Hall. On Thursday, I will give office hours at least from 1:15-3. I might have to leave for some time during my Wednesday office hours in which case I will extend them by the time I have missed.
[7/30/2012] Here are the solutions to the second practice midterm.
[7/28/2012] Here is the second practice midterm. I will post solutions soon. The actual midterm is about the same length and difficulty, but the problems might be considerably different.
[7/27/2012] We will write the second midterm next week on Thursday, August 2, during the quiz section. The midterm will cover the material from sections 10.2, 3.1-3.6, 3.9, and 3.10, that is, anything that we covered in class from July 9 until today. Note that the midterm is not cumulative. I will provide a practice midterm soon. I will give office hours on the day before the midterm (Wednesday, August 1) from 10-11:45 and 1:15-5.
[7/17/2012] I will move my office hours on Wednesday, July 25 to 1:15-2:15pm.
[7/10/2012] Here are the solutions to the practice midterm.
[7/10/2012] Here is the first practice midterm. I will post solutions tomorrow. The actual midterm is about the same length and difficulty, but the problems might be considerably different (i.e. not the same problems with different numbers, say).
[7/9/2012] Since I have a meeting on Wednesday, my office hours will end at 4:30. So I will give office hours from 10-11:45 and 1:15-4:30.
[7/7/2012] The homework for section 3.1 will be due a week later, on July 17. We will write the first midterm next week on Thursday, July 12, during the quiz section. The midterm will cover the material from sections 10.1, 2.1-2.3, and 2.5-2.8, that is, anything that we covered in class until last Friday. Note that you may not use anything from later chapters of the book even if you already know that material. In particular, that means that you will have to compute derivatives by evaluating the limit of the difference quotient. I will provide a practice midterm soon. I will give office hours on the day before the midterm (Wednesday, July 11) from 10-11:45 and 1:15-5.
[7/1/2012] I had to change the worksheet for Thursday, July 5, since I will not be able to cover the relevant material on Monday. The new worksheet is available below under the same link I had previously used.
[6/29/2012] The homework for section 2.6 will be due a week later, on Tuesday, July 10.
[6/22/2012] Since we did not finish section 2.2 on Friday, the corresponding homework will be due on Tuesday, July 3. Note that the homework due on July 3 might contain up to four sections, so start working on it sufficiently early.
[6/17/2012] Hey there. This is the class webpage for Math124D. The syllabus is available here. Please print and staple worksheet one, available below, and bring it to the quiz section next Tuesday. You will also write a quiz on precalculus material. The grade will not count, the purpose of the quiz is to give you feedback on how well prepared you are for this course.
