Zack Treisman
Zack Treisman studied Algebraic Geometry with Sándor Kovács, and got
his PhD in 2006. Since then he has spent time at the Tata Institute for Fundamental
Research in Mumbai, India, and at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
Before coming to Seattle for graduate school in 2000 he has, among other things, been
a taxi driver and a ski instructor, graduated from Reed College in Portland, Oregon
with a BA in Mathematics, and traveled to Hungary and Tibet. Zack loves geometry for
the way it can be understood at an intuitive level, and how that intuitive
understanding can lead one to mathematics that otherwise might not have been
found. One of his favorite ways to think about mathematics is by making a model of a
geometric object. When not doing math, Zack can often be found exploring one
mountain range or another.
