Math 505, Algebra
Winter '97

Important dates: The final is 8:30-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19. You must use a blue book for exams.

Office Hours: Monday 4:00-5:00 in Padelford C-418, and by appointment.

The textbook for the class is ``Algebra'', by R. S. Irving.

Your grade will be based on the homework, and the final. Your best 7 homework scores will contribute 50%, and the final will contribute 50%. In each homework set only three problems will be graded; each is worth 5 points. Except in extraordinary circumstances, late homework will not be accepted. If you miss the homework deadline, that homework will be one of those which does not contribute to your best seven. I cannot overemphasize the importance of doing the homework promptly and regularly. It is the only way to learn mathematics.
