My (first) name

The name Tvrtko comes from tvrd which in Croatian means hard, and tvrd ko would mean 'hard like' (steel, stone to break). Since 'd' sounds as 't', Tvrd-ko becomes Tvrtko. The name is used mostly by Croats, and it is not often. The names close to Tvrtko, by meaning, in English, would be Hardy, Hart, Hartman, . . .

King Tvrtko I

From the historian figures, there are two medieval kings of Bosnia that had that name: Tvrtko I (he also ruled parts of Croatia) and Tvrtko II. (In my opinion the articles on Wikipedia are a bit undone, and I am not certain that all the facts are correct.)

My last name (surname)

The surname Tadić is pronounced Tadich. (I usually write it simply Tadic.) It is a widely spread surname among people from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia. For instance, at the University of Zagreb there are (at least) three professors with name Marko Tadić. The current president of Serbia is Boris Tadić. (I am not related to any of them.)
