Final Exam Information:
The final exam for this course will be held on Saturday, December 12,
from 1:30 to 4:20 p.m. in Kane 130. If you are unable to take the final on this
day, you must petition to take the final on an alternate date. As a rule,
other than for religious reasons no exceptions will be made to this
examination time. The deadline to petition is Friday, October 23.
Petitions are available from the Math Advising Office, PDL C-036.
Announcements:
- Announced 11/20/2009: Here are the answers to the review sheet. (NOTE: The answer to #11 is now correct.)
- Announced 11/15/2009: Your second midterm exam will be held in quiz
section on Tuesday, November 24. The exam will cover all the material we've
done since the first midterm. You will be allowed a SCIENTIFIC calculator and one sheet (8.5x11 inches) of HANDWRITTEN notes (double-sided). No graphing calculators will
be allowed. No photocopied or computer-generated notes will be allowed.
If you understand how to do every assigned homework problem (including those
from assignment 6.5 which will be posted soon), you should be prepared for the exam.
Here is a review sheet that contains some
problems from old exams. Solutions will be posted over the weekend.
- Announced 11/8/2009: Grades are now posted here. I have several exams and homeworks to re-grade that haven't
yet been entered.
- Announced 11/2/2009: Here are hints and answers for the midterm:
- Version Alpha (#1 asks for
the line of intersection of 3x-2y+z=1 and 2x+y-3z=3.)
- Version Beta (#1 asks for
the line of intersection of 2x-y+3z=2 and 3x+3y+z=3.)
The median on the exam was 31/50. I will post information about
current grades soon.
- Announced 11/1/2009: I have modified this week's homework assignment
slightly: from Section 14.3, I have eliminated #3 and 10 and have added
#25, 27, and 29. The assignment is now correct as posted.
- Announced 10/29/2009: Here is a link to an
on-line 3D grapher that you might want to play with.
- Announced 10/25/2009: Here's a couple of things:
- Announced 10/23/2009: For Tuesday's midterm, you will NOT be responsible
for finding the unit normal vector to a curve. For Section 13.3 #18, find the unit
tangent vector and the curvature only.
